My account got suspended

Why accounts are suspended, what not to do after a ban, and how to appeal.

If you see a message that your account is suspended or banned, the account was flagged or confirmed for a violation of the ESMO rules.

Suspensions protect the in-game economy and fair competition.

Why was my account suspended?

While specific reasons vary, accounts are most commonly suspended for violations regarding Market Manipulation or Multi-Accounting.

1. Single Account Policy Violations

You may be suspended if you are found to be controlling more than one account. This includes:

  • Creating “alt” accounts to store currency or players.
  • “Account sitting” (logging into or managing a friend’s account).
  • Interacting with other accounts on the same connection, such as trading or bidding between household accounts.
  • Attempting to create a new account after being banned.

2. Bid Rigging and Market Manipulation

You may be suspended if you participated in schemes to undermine fair auctions. This includes:

  • Bid Suppression: Agreeing with other clubs not to bid so a specific person wins.
  • Price Fixing: Using “cover bids” to make an auction look competitive when the outcome is prearranged.
  • Signaling: Using chat codes or specific bid amounts to tell rivals to stand down.
  • Kickbacks: Offering side deals or future benefits to losing bidders.

3. Other Violations

Suspensions may also occur for severe toxicity, cheating, or other breaches of the Terms of Service.

Can I create another account after being banned?

No. Creating another account to bypass a ban is a separate violation and can lead to more enforcement. Use the appeal process instead.

How to appeal a ban

If you believe your account was suspended in error, or if you wish to explain the context of the situation, you may submit a ban appeal.

To submit an appeal, please send an email to support@esmo.gg.

What to include in your appeal

To ensure your appeal is processed quickly and fairly, please include the following information in your email:

  • Subject Line: Ban Appeal - [Your Club name]
  • Account Details: Your club name and the email address associated with the account.
  • The Explanation: This is the most important part. Please explain clearly why your ban should be overturned.
  • If you believe this is a false positive (e.g., you play in a household with other players but strictly followed the interaction rules), provide proof of separate identities.
  • If you were flagged for bid rigging, explain the strategy behind your bidding patterns.

Important Notes

  • One conversation only: Do not send several emails about the same appeal. Reply to the existing email thread if you need to add something.
  • Be honest: Explain the full situation. False information can count against the appeal.
  • Outcome: I will review the available evidence and your explanation. If the suspension is confirmed, the decision is generally final.
  • Ban circumvention: Creating another account instead of appealing can lead to more enforcement.
